Room of the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum
It is the third most important art gallery in the Madrid capital due to the quantity and quality of its works. It houses part of the acquisitions of Hans Henry Thyssen-Bornemisza , Baron Thyssen, and his father. In addition to the samples of ancient art, the great jewels of the museum correspond to Impressionism, the german expressionism , the Russian Vanguard, and the paintings post war british apart from the major American artists of the 19th and 20th centuries. Its authors include Monet, Van Gogh, Picasso, Mondrian, Hopper, Bacon or Lichtenstein.
The building that houses it was originally one of the most lavish palaces in Madrid, the Villahermosa Palace , where in 1844 during his stay in Madrid the pianist and composer gave a recital Franz Listz , as is well attested by a plaque on the façade that overlooks the San Jerónimo Race.

This museum, partly responsible for the artistic prestige of Madrid, inaugurated its star hall a few summers ago: a restaurant on the roof (250 m2) of the old Villahermosa Palace. Before the revolution reached the kitchens of Madrid, the Thyssen restaurant already offered impeccable cuisine.
