It is already well known that art is capable of drawing bridges . This time, this discipline has made the rural and the urban go hand in hand through painting. The town of Villangómez has just over 100 inhabitants , but it has been proposed to be in the cultural spotlight with a riot of street art, in total, 33 murals that have covered the walls of this town of Burgos.
During the last years, there are numerous artists who have been leaving their mark among the alleys of the town. The result has been the Route of Murals and Writers, in which figures such as Susana Velasco, Willy Arenas, Alegría del Prado, Kilipo, Goyo203 or Begoña Belmonte have participated . These large-scale paintings have managed to put the small town on the map, becoming a benchmark for culture lovers.

The initiative has been possible thanks to the Pollogómez Project , which maintains an incessant struggle to publicize the rural environment and all that it implies. Caring for the environment, traditions and customs They are the values with which they work every day to carry out one of our most precious assets: the villages.
This route is actually part of a larger purpose that was canceled last year for obvious reasons. The Pollogómez Festival it has attracted crowds of tourists in past editions. The event has markets where you can find local products, workshops, exhibitions, concerts, gastronomy... But, without a doubt, the desire to contemplate the work of important artists of similar dimensions is what has given him the most fame.
TRADITION AND INNOVATION
As we anticipated before, this is not only about painting. Each of the murals has a connection with a contemporary writer, such as Boris Vian, Jorge Luis Borges or Gloria Fuertes . Technology has also crept into the union of the two materials. Via a QR code , viewers can access extended information on the works.
Numerous artists have decorated the walls of Villangómez.

Through street art, Villangómez shows that he is small but a killer , that the cultural can also be rural and that the solution is not to choose, but to unify both worlds.
