'Star Party' or how to see the sky of the Grand Canyon National Park from home

So far and yet so close... You would never imagine seeing the sky of the Grand Canyon from home.

There are few pleasures that equal that of spend a night in nature under a starry sky . Although it is true that, during these months, this has been a difficult wish to fulfill, circumstances have made us reinvent ourselves. In this way, the Grand Canyon National Park has brought back its annual star party virtually and without having to move from home.

Every night at 7 pm (4 am in Spain) , the park has broadcast its night sky live from your Facebook channel . Far from falling short, before its broadcast, eight special guests have dedicated themselves to talking about astronomy , of its secrets and curiosities as an appetizer before the show.

This virtual party kicked off on June 13 , but there are two good news. The first is that it ends tomorrow, so we still have time to enjoy his last two sessions live . The second is that, through its website, broadcasts we missed can be replayed.

The Star Party has had to be canceled this year, but nothing is going to stop us from enjoying such a starry sky.

**FOR STAR LOVERS**

Every day since its inception, the National Park has wanted to contribute an introduction from the best astronomers . By way of talks, lessons or curiosities, for almost an hour, the experts they talk about the sky, the stars and answer questions to the most interested.

During these days, we have seen sessions on how to protect the sky and fight against light pollution , different constellation locations , tours for the universe , how to drink night sky pictures either the apollo story.

Today at 6 pm (3 am in Spain) , the session will be repeated astrophotography for beginners , a snapshot course on how to take pictures of the night sky . This will be followed by a repeat of the third live broadcast they did last Monday.

Saturday at the same time , the talk will deal with the Planetary Defense: Surveying the Sky for Killer Asteroid , a session in which experts show their knowledge about meteorites and what protocol they follow to mitigate the threats of its impacts . To finish, the fourth session of the star party, broadcast last Tuesday, will be broadcast again.

These virtual parties show what is seen from astronomers' telescopes , connected to video cameras. For about an hour, experts guide the broadcast, select celestial objects and, next to them, we glimpse galaxies, nebulae, constellations at a distance that seems fictional.
