This is the acoustically perfect auditorium
Total, 10,000 acoustic panels connected to each other cover the walls, ceiling and balustrades of this 2,100-seat auditorium. The shape of these panels, each and every one of them different from each other, has been created using an algorithm. Also, they are studded with a million tiny 'cells' designed to conduct sound into the auditorium. Thus, when vibrations hit a panel, the surface absorbs or spreads the sound to create a balanced vibration throughout the auditorium, they explain on the Wired website.
Another plus point? Its wave-shaped design
This acoustic work of art is the result of the joint work of the Swiss architectural firm Herzog and De Meuron and the One to One studio and has involved an investment of €785 million . Although the auditorium is the star of the Elbphilharmonie, the building also has a noteworthy design with its wave-like shape and seemingly endless staircase standing out.
In addition, the facilities include two other concert halls, an educational area, eating and drinking establishments, a hotel and the Plaza, a space that offers visitors panoramic views of the city.
