The vegan delicatessens and butchers They are more than a fad, they are here to stay. A few months ago we told you that the first vegan butcher shop to open in London had sold all its products on the same opening day. It is not surprising, the concern for the welfare of animals and the environment (we remember that the meat industry is one of the most polluting in the world) makes many people opt for vegan products.

London It will no longer be the only city in Europe to bet on this type of product, because Barcelona he already has his first vegan charcuterie, specifically in the Gràcia neighborhood . "It had to be here yes or yes, Gràcia is a neighborhood that we believe favors this type of business (and we were not wrong) we are very grateful to the neighborhood and all the people who are coming from outside to visit us", they explain in a Interview with Traveler.es the owners of Farmers Veggies Butchers.

FREE OF PRESERVATIVES AND ADDITIVES

Almost three years ago one of the partners of Farmers (a group of three friends with experience in the restoration) had the idea of opening a plant-based butcher shop, after trying these products and seeing that they suited him.

“Farmers was born out of the need to create plant-based products 100% free of preservatives and additives . For us it was very important that the products were totally natural without going through a process, our production is 100% handmade”, they add.

Thus, at Farmers Veggies Butchers you can find all kinds of products that you would associate with a traditional delicatessen, for example sausages, hamburgers, sobrassada, cream cheese, chorizo, bacon, nuggets... "We are developing more recipes every day to be able to incorporate many more products little by little”, they underline.

The peculiarity is that it will be the first time you try them (or not) made with vegetable products such as vegetables, legumes and spices, which are the basis of most of them.

And as for the taste, what can we expect? “Hardly, if not almost impossible, it will taste exactly the same as meat because we do not use any additives or preservatives. In any case, by using a lot of spices, some of our products can remind you of traditional meat.”

At the moment the reception is being very good, and as they explain, their clients return to repeat. And while they consolidate their audience, they look to the future. "Looking ahead to next month, I am sure we will be able to offer new products and in a while we will also be able to offer online option together with the opening of another store in Barcelona”.

You can find them at Carrer de l'Or, number 16 in Barcelona. Every day from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 21:00.
