The Forge will feature three spiky recreation towers.
We have a new reason to want to travel to the United States (if the confinement due to the coronavirus ends up allowing us to). About 35 kilometers from the city of Chicago, in Lemont, the inauguration of the Largest outdoor adventure park in North America. The Forge: Lemont Quarries is its name and it occupies an extension of land of 122 hectares.
Equipped with 260 challenges –between zip lines, climbing walls and high ropes–, There will be no room for boredom in it, since the activities of the park -which will remain open throughout the year-, as they explain, are "designed around three fundamental pillars: entertain, educate and entertain to the guests”. (It is adapted to all ages and abilities and will also be accessible to people with disabilities).
One of its three towers will also break a height record.
**THE TOWERS **
Its other three 'pillars', in this case constructive, will be a massive 120-foot tower, the tallest with a ropes course in North America, and two others 27 meters high each. Another record that The Forge: Lemont Quarries will add will be that of having the longest zip lines over water (250 and 320 meters) in the state of Illinois and, in general, in the entire North American Midwest.
The park will also serve to train from sports such as mountain biking to ultra marathons, since it will have eight kilometers of trails to get lost and spread out (remember that this is the only mountainous area close to the Chicagoland metropolitan area).
In its immense four-hectare lake it will be possible practice paddling activities such as kayaking and canoeing and its pump track ("pumping track" designed to ride without the need to pedal) is the only one in the region where cyclists can go to test their skills and abilities on two mountain wheels.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
But not everything is going to be advancing and progressing through its ropes and challenges (in some extreme cases), since The Forge: Lemont Quarries will have a complete entertainment program which will include concerts and music and film festivals (it will have an amphitheater), as well as races and sporting events and summer camps.
The project has also been concerned with aspects related to the environment (they have helped restore the natural ecosystem of the land, previously plagued by invasive species) and have created a non-profit charity whose aim is to "develop and provide access to outdoor education and recreation opportunities for the entire community, regardless of the age, abilities and socioeconomic circumstances of each person”, as explained from the park.
