An open-air sculpture museum , in the vicinity of Zabalaga farmhouse in Hernani (built in the 16th century) . This is the concept of Chillida-Leku Museum , which will reopen its doors on next April 17, 2019 . The sculptor from San Sebastian founded this space while he was still alive, which closed (unless previously reserved) in 2011 due to difficulties in economic viability.

THE FIRST EXHIBITION OF THIS NEW STAGE

The museum will reopen with the anthological exhibition of the artist Eduardo Chillida. echoes . The name of the exhibition refers to the sculpture of the same name from 1954 _(Oyarak) _ , which will be exhibited on the ground floor of the farmhouse. Ecos also tries to influence the idea of ​​repetition and series, so closely linked to the artist's way of working.

The rest of the works, arranged chronologically, deals with " trace the creative development of the artist, the use of materials and the evolution of his ideas throughout his career ", as expressed in the official press release of the reopening.

Materials such as iron (present in what is probably his best-known work, ' wind comb - San Sebastián, 1977-), granite, plaster and paper.

We can enjoy two of his most representative series: gravitations (paper sculptures where relief and emptiness take on special importance) and the lurras (pieces made with chamotte earth) .

We will go up to the upper floors of the farmhouse to become aware of the importance of public sculpture of the artist, who today specks about 40 cities . Precisely, in this area of ​​the exhibition, an important part is dedicated to the sculpture of the 'Wind Comb XV', located on Paseo de Eduardo Chillida in San Sebastián.

To contextualize each work and provide a common thread on this creative process, in addition to the works (among which stand out 'Wishful', 'From the Dark Plane', 'Trembling Irons', 'Anvil of Dreams VII', either 'Looking for the light III' ), we will observe photographs of the sculptor, original manuscripts, correspondence, catalogs of his first exhibitions... The entire Chillida Universe in the farmhouse where Chillida managed to perfectly combine art and nature.
