Arcana, a cabin that seeks to bridge the gap between urban life and nature
More than ever during the last year we have discovered cabins completely immersed in the nature , with environments that reflect serenity in its purest state and constructions that seek to be in harmony with the environment. But, until now, we had not seen a proposal like the one from arcane : a cabin located in Canada that blends into the forest that surrounds her.
Less than two hours north of toronto is said proposal conceived by Alan Gertner Y Felicia Snyder , by the Canadian company Tokyo Smoke (who in turn worked with the architecture and design firm Leckie Studio and the design agency Aruliden). This collaboration has resulted in a structure that draws from the wild environment and features a luxurious sleeping space surrounded by large glazed windows They help blur the lines between inside and outside.
Arcana is a proposal conceived by Felicia Snyder and Alan Gertner
Arcana is inspired by the change in perspective that spending time in nature provides . Over the years, we've realized how important it is for physical and mental health, particularly in the context of our fast-paced urban lives, and that's why we began to explore how we could share this ritual with others" , says Felicia Snyder in an interview via email to Traveler.es.
So, in a secret location – that will only be revealed to travelers who visit it – a movement named arcane which has as its leitmotif bridging the gap between urban life and nature , offering innovative experiences backed by science and allowing people to easily access the restorative powers of nature.
A CABIN THAT DISAPPEARS INTO NATURE
Inspired both by the secrets, mysterious forms, and the "superpowers" of nature, Alan Gertner and Felicia Snyder decided to become the architects of a project that is defined as a "self-directed natural retreat" . And in case you are wondering why they have qualified it that way, the answer is that from the check-in, without any kind of contact, until their dismissal from the place, the guests will experience a secluded stay in a remote forest.
A series of cabins that disappear into nature
The first cabins , which will have about 83 square meters, will be covered by reflective stainless steel , which makes them practically invisible to the surrounding forest , while the interior will be characterized by a minimalist and avant-garde design that prioritizes well-being, always considering the fundamental value of nature.
"We've paid special attention to the outer cladding to make sure it's bird-friendly. The surface is coated with a substance that is invisible to the human eye , but that allows birds to locate it as an object in the landscape when they fly".
For their part, the structures will have a bathroom, shower and toiletries from the Canadian brand Sangre de Fruta, kitchens equipped with all the essentials , a queen-size luxury mattress with a direct view of the trees; and both underfloor heating and air conditioning to guarantee a refuge at any time of the year.
Guests will enjoy a self-directed nature retreat
In addition, each cabin will also have outside space with a fire pit to enjoy a campfire and cook outdoors.
"Guests can go skiing, hiking, bathing in the forest or walk among the trees. Relax in the private sauna or start a restorative sound journey created in association with The Woom Center and New York-based Dojo Upstate," adds Felicia Snyder.
As soon as the cabins offered their reservations, all the places for 2021 were sold out (in just twenty-four hours), so in the near future they will launch the rooms for 2022 , with rates starting at $299 per night on weekdays with a two-night minimum stay, while arcane is preparing to officially launch a number of new locations in the United States and Canada.
Arcana will soon make reservations and locations public for 2022
