This new space was born in 2016 by Lionel and Kim Logchies, that for more than twenty years they have been collecting and working side by side, each one in their respective specialty. Creating Moco Museum has allowed this couple of entrepreneurs to come together to show works of art that, if it weren't for Moco, would have remained in private collections and would not be visible to the general public.

Moco Museum believes that art can change the world , which is why its intention is to show pieces that create experiences, activate the imagination, challenge norms, broaden perspectives and question the world around us. Since its opening it seems that it has succeeded, because it has already received more than 2 million visits from 120 different nationalities.

THE UBICATION

Located at number 25 Montcada street in Barcelona, Moco Museum takes over the space of the Palacio Cervelló , a former private residence of the Cervelló noble family until the 17th century. From the Middle Ages to the 20th century, the palace belonged to aristocrats, merchants, and royalty. With the utmost respect for the building, the architect Studio Pulsen recovered the original essence of the Cervelló Palace, adapting to the needs of the museum to create a great modern and contemporary space.

The acquisition of this palace by the Moco Museum reflects its first proposal in the Villa Alsberg (1904) in Amsterdam - a historic building reserved for the privileged elite. Currently, the location has become too small to house the dreams of the founders and its exhibition space is limited. There is much more art that they want to share and many more stories to tell, which is why this new opening in Barcelona.

"We represent the voice of the people and we trust in art as a way to help us get here," Kim and Lionel, its founders, said in a statement. You can already buy your tickets here.
