From Paris to New York via London and Berlin. Dear fashionistas, take good note:

**AZZEDINE ALAÏA: THE COUTURIER (Design Museum, London) **

After her unexpected death last November, the London Design Museum hosts this exhibition, planned by Alaïa himself , which reviews his legacy.

The famous couturier knew how to capture the timeless beauty of the female body and express it in the form of haute couture pieces.

Alaïa, of Tunisian origin, received sculpture classes at the School of Fine Arts in his city, which can be seen in her handling of the needle when sculpting his creations.

The exhibition will show more than 60 milestones of the designer's work during the last 35 years , personally selected by Alaïa and curator Mark Wilson.

**HEAVENLY BODIES: FASHION AND THE CATHOLIC IMAGINATION (The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York)**

The MET hosts this year an interesting dialogue between fashion and masterpieces of religious art.

A group of papal robes and accessories from the Vatican –many of whom have never been seen outside their premises– will travel to the Big Apple to serve as the cornerstone of the exhibition, highlighting the influence of liturgical vestments on fashion houses.

Among the pieces exhibited in the show we will find designs by Cristóbal Balenciaga, Coco Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier, Azzedine Alaïa, Dolce & Gabbana, John Galliano, Rodarte, Dior or Vivienne Westwood.

As is customary, the opening of the exhibition will be accompanied by the famous MET Gala. This year, Anna Wintour will feature hostesses from the likes of Amal Clooney, Rihanna and Donatella Versace.

**MARGIELA: LES ANNÉES HERMÈS (Museum of Decorative Arts, Paris) **

Martin Margiela himself is the artistic director of this exhibition dedicated to his time at the French maison (1997-2003).

For the occasion, the Belgian creator has selected 120 pieces from the twelve collections he designed for Hèrmes, in which his unmistakable minimalism in perfect harmony with the contemporary luxury that characterizes his creations.

From March 22 to September 2.

As if one were not enough, the French capital hosts another retrospective dedicated to the Belgian designer. This time, Margiela's trajectory is reviewed from the spring-summer 1989 collection to spring-summer 2009.

The 'anonymous' designer, named for his aversion to giving interviews and being seen, questioned the structures and forms used in the world of fashion: he studies the construction of the garment through its deconstruction, reveals its reverse, enhances the unfinished and splashes his collections with white.

**GIANNI VERSACE RETROSPECTIVE (Kronprinzenpalais, Berlin) **

Since January, the famous Prince's Palace in Berlin has been hosting an exhibition where fashion, culture, music and inspiration come together thanks to the late Gianni Versace in an innovative and colorful space.

More than 300 pieces, some never seen since the 80s and 90s, come together in this exhibition. Among the personalities who wore the garments are Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Linda Evangelista, Kate Moss, Madonna, Elton John, and even Lady Diana.

**FRIDA KAHLO: MAKING HER SELF UP (Victoria and Albert Museum, London) **

Part of the wardrobe of the iconic Mexican artist will travel to the British capital to show clothing never before seen outside of Mexico.

Among the belongings, you can see typical Mexican dresses, corsets decorated by Frida herself, jewelry, photographs and letters.

**FASHIONED FROM NATURE (Victoria & Albert Museum, London) **

London hosts the first exhibition in the United Kingdom dedicated to explore the relationship between fashion and nature from 1600 to today.

The show will present organic fashion forms and new dyeing processes, inviting visitors to think about the materials and origin of their attire.

The Victoria & Albert Museum will bring together a total of 300 pieces signed by designers such as Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood, Calvin Klein, Christian Dior, Dries Van Noten, and Philip Treacy.

From April 21 to January 27, 2019.

PINK: THE HISTORY OF A PUNK, PRETTY, POWERFUL COLOR ( **Fashion Institute of Technology, New York) **

Popularly associated with dolls, ballerinas, little girls and the feminine world in general, the color pink has much more symbolism and importance than it may seem at first glance.

In the XVIII century, Madame de Pompadour made pink fashionable in the French court, also among the masculine sector, and in cultures such as India, men have never stopped using it.

This exhibition, curated by Dr. Valerie Steele, studies the changing path of pink throughout history to the present day.

**OLIVIER THEYSKENS – SHE WALKS IN BEAUTY (Mode Museum, Antwerp) **

The exhibition explores the creative evolution of the Belgian designer during his twenty years in the world of fashion: from the dark and romantic side of his first designs to the new vision of couture that he instilled in Rocks , going through his mastery of cutting and sewing in nina ricci , his american adventure in Theykens' Theory and the relaunch of his own firm Olivier Theyskens.

His extraordinary talent for drawing and self-taught method of working provide a broad perspective of the different aspects of the contemporary fashion industry. The exhibition will also show photographs, films and drawings.
