In recent months, while the hashtag #House grew 200% on Twitter (in the words of Nathalie Piqcuot, General Director of the social network in Spain), we have learned to cook and we have also ordered much more food delivery . And in this sea of culinary offers, we had the big problem at home: what do we order? Chinese? sushi? Burger? To provide a solution to this and satisfy everyone's tastes, The great Mediterranean family , a project conceived by Danny Garcia.

"In my house there is a lot of variety and I found that my wife, who is Russian, wanted one thing; the girl wanted sushi...". So in the context of the pandemic, a concept that had been in his mind for years (the so-called dark kitchens either ghost kitchens , dedicated to prepare food exclusively for delivery , with no waiters or tables full of diners on the other side of the wall) went back to her to-do list task stronger than ever.

Restaurant kitchens work non-stop these months, as do delivery services. But receiving orders from restaurants (which finally opened their doors to the public) in the kitchen, in addition to home orders, is complicated; " I don't want the restaurant to have home delivery orders and restaurant orders: it's not fair to the diners ", as he expresses Danny Garcia in the presentation via Twitter of his new gastronomic project.

And so it is born The Great Mediterranean Family , with a fictitious group of 8 components, 8 chefs specialized in a gastronomic area so that from a single application ( Just Eat ) Y with a single order you can satisfy the taste of each inhabitant of the house . And furthermore, guaranteeing that the order will arrive in perfect condition.

THE GREAT MEDITERRANEAN FAMILY OF DANI GARCÍA: WHAT DISHES CAN WE ORDER?

"The concept comes from the comics of 13, Rue du Barnacle , with that building full of neighbors where a lot of things happened", comments Dani García in the live presentation on Twitter, "but I was also inspired by the cinema, by Daniel Sánchez Arévalo and The great Spanish family , a wonderful movie". Each member of the family with his tastes and his particularities, from sushi to croquettes, Russian salad and, of course, the everlasting hamburger (the hype of cooking at home).

To organize all these tastes and desires, Dani García's team worked in eight characters, each with their own culinary identity , "to cook in a fresh and fun way". A) Yes, from the Just Eat app , when selecting The great Mediterranean family , we can choose the dishes we want from the different members of this peculiar lineage: Garcia Sandwiches (with its shredded beef and caramelized onion muffin, for example); pancho suey (the fusion of Asian and Mexican food, with its chicken noodles marinated in soy and vegetables); Molta Mamma (the Italian granny who will prepare traditional dishes like carbonara pizza with smoked guanciale and fresh onion); Brave Aunt (with their dumplings); the Mr. Embers (and the famous Burger Bull® Dani García of old cow); Madam Wasabi (and the must-have sushi from him); Shanna (and its healthy cuisine dishes); mixer (an appetizing cocktail section).

Definitely, " gourmet kitchen that can travel ", as defined by Dani García himself.

Of course, some classics from the chef's restaurant menus cannot be missing. Of course, only those that do not really lose quality in the shipping process. Thus, we will meet the Russian eel salad from Lobito and of course the oxtail brioche of BiBo (prepared by Mr. Brasa) which, it is presumed, will be the best seller of the great Mediterranean family.

IN WHICH CITIES CAN WE ORDER?

The great Mediterranean family begins its journey with a first kitchen in Madrid that will start heating stoves next Monday, September 21. The people of Madrid will be able to order their first dishes starting next week. " There are three strategically located kitchens in Madrid ; we will open one first and then, progressively, the rest; we have two other kitchens in Barcelona plus the atelier in Marbella that it will be the last to open; From then on, our intention is to open some 20 more kitchens". Each of these kitchens will reach a radius of two and a half kilometers to guarantee the perfect state of the order.

Patrik Bergareche , General Director of Just Eat Spain, asked in the presentation about the future of this family . "In how many countries is Just Eat, 22 countries? Well, that's as far as we want to go," replied Dani García with a laugh. For now, the opening of its first kitchen in Madrid coincides with the presentation of the new restaurant that will open in the capital next week, the one at the Four Seasons restaurant . And it turns out that both teams are close, so we know that the residents of the central district of Madrid will be the first to taste the dishes of the new adventure of the Dani García team.

HOW THE GREAT MEDITERRANEAN FAMILY TRAVELS

How do you do from the kitchens and from Just Eat so that they travel well? Keep in mind that the selection of dishes shown in the app are those that will arrive in optimal conditions at our house : "We can't make the Leña pâté apple to take away: we are playing a different sport and, therefore, the first step was to choose the best dishes to take away; then, how to take it (the packaging) and, finally, with whom ", commented Dani Garcia.

The packaging, in addition to sustainable and recyclable , is thought out to the smallest detail. Depending on the dish we choose, there will be a special packaging for this . For example, the croquettes go in a box with separations so that each one of the croquettes travels without sticking to the one next to it. When opening the boxes, messages, illustrations... everything is designed to make the experience complete.

Finally, the choice of Just Eat has to do with the feeling between García and the company team and an important part of the business that explains Patrik Bergareche : "Our delivery men are listed on social security, they are not self-employed: they are employees of Just Eat".
