MINUTES MATTER MORE THAN METERS
“The TravelTime Maps tool allows users to search where you can get there in X minutes, find points of interest and get the route”, explains Louisa Bainbridge, from iGeolise, the company behind the project.
iGeolise was born in 2009 when Charlie Davis, the co-founder together with Peter Lilley, was caught in a jam.
"That's when I realized that when it comes to traveling, minutes are more important than miles,” he says.
In 2012, they won the award for the European Satellite Navigation Competition and they had their first client, followed by many more. In 2017, the iGeolise team created **the TravelTime Maps search tool. **
**TravelTime Maps is a demo of the TravelTime platform, ** which sells API (Application Programming Interfaces) access to websites.

The TravelTime Maps tool allows you to do three things. First, discover, "By creating a travel time area to show on the map”, Louisa begins to explain.

The concept was clear: offer a search by travel time instead of distance.
Now, what exactly can we look for? “TravelTime Maps uses the API of foursquare, meaning you can find any point of interest listed by this location data provider,” explains Louisa.
“This includes (but is not limited to) hotels, restaurants, cafes, bars, cinemas, shops and tourist attractions”, she concludes it.
The data is compiled from a variety of sources: walking speed profiles from OpenStreetMap, driving and biking, public transport schedules, parking data, and cycling and driving speeds.
“In addition, we check twice a week all the data to take into account schedule changes, elimination of routes or new routes”, Louisa tells.

“We are working on the second version of TravelTime Maps using the app's fantastic user feedback to make it even easier to explore points of interest in your local area,” Louisa tells us.
