Map of Every City
Map of Every City is the work of Chaz Hutton, a London-based designer and illustrator known for the sketches and diagrams he draws and then photographs on post-it notes. In the drawing you can see his particular interpretation of a typical western city.
Hutton shared his design via Twitter last january 23 and the acceptance was massive: 5,340 retweets and 6,778 likes , immediately generating a debate on the social network focused on discovering the city it reflected.
"The map is not specifically of London, the idea for his style initially came from a map of London that I drew for some friends who came to visit me in the summer, in which described my perception of the city "explains the author on the Medium website in which he writes." The idea of create a map of perceptions instead of using the names of the places it took shape and after a few tries, I sat down and started drawing it," he adds.
However, he explains that "the map it is not a map of a city in a traditional sense . Rather it is a map of the experience of people living in a city : the changes they experience when they grow up and have children, the way in which cool zones arise in traditionally difficult places and are now compared to less cool neighborhoods, usually wealthy places, where an Ikea is built to be profitable".
