The measure, which was announced today by the president of the Community of Madrid, Cristina Cifuentes, will come into force in a few months , when the Governing Council approves the necessary amendment to the Madrid Metropolitan Railway Passenger Regulations, Metro de Madrid reported in a statement.

However, we already know some details: each passenger will be able to travel with only one dog. The dogs must carry muzzle , go subject with a strap no longer than 50 centimeters in length and ride exclusively on the last car of each train . To move around the interior of the station you can use elevators and stairs but not mechanical. These rules must be complied with from the moment you enter the station and until you leave.

The access of dogs to the Madrid metro will be limited to times of less crowding, leaving excluding peak hours in the morning and in the afternoon: from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. . These limitations will not apply in the months of July and August, on weekends and holidays.

The Madrid metro thus joins those of other European cities such as Barcelona, ​​Brussels, London, Lisbon or Berlin.
