Villa Slow is a balanced interpretation of Pas houses
From time to time, Some of the neighbor's cows appear on the porch of Villa Slow that graze in the meadows of the two-hectare estate. Sometimes, also the horse. To the south it stretches Miera Valley, one of the least populated areas of Spain.
and to the north, beyond the mountains, an hour's drive away, the sea. You can even get to see it, from the highest point of the hill, when the day is clear.
The mist advances through the valleys, as in a moving painting, and the choir of the cowbells and the water of two streams is heard that run creating a small waterfall of icy waters.
Heidi spent her childhood in a place similar to this Laura Álvarez, the owner and architect responsible for Villa Slow, who always wondered why in such a beautiful place the houses were cold, closed and dark.
So four years ago she bought an idyllic plot of land and built the house she would like to live in, a current, cozy and warm version of the traditional pasiegas cabins: a single floor, underfloor heating, open-plan rooms and huge windows and glass fronts to make you feel outside even when inside.
The stones and wood are from the area, sometimes recovered from the ruins of structures in Pas, and the furniture (Arne Vodder chairs, Theo Ruth armchairs...) she bought little by little in designer thrift stores amsterdam, where Laura has run her studio for years.
Equipped with everything you need to spend a few happy days isolated from the world –yes, there is Wi-Fi, firewood and a hot tub on the prairie–, Villa Slow is perfect to get away with your partner or with friends.
