We know Marc Clotet for films such as The Sleeping Voice (2011), The Chess Player (2017) and the series Loving is forever and Physics or Chemistry. To Natalia Sánchez also for Loving is forever, and others like Accusados or, of course, Los Serrano, the one that gave him fame. But in recent months we have become accustomed to seeing them in social networks raising awareness about the importance of research against Covid-19.

“The #YoMeCorono initiative was born shortly before the State of Alarm was declared in our country and after a telephone conversation I had with my father, Dr. Bonaventura Clotet”, Marc tells us. During that talk, he saw their extreme concern about the lack of resources they had to deal with everything they predicted would happen with the arrival of the coronavirus. “They needed resources to launch studies with existing drugs and move forward as quickly as possible in the development of a vaccine against Covid-19”.

"I told Natalia about it and together, that same night, we created #YoMeCorono," recalls the actor. The next day, we began to contact all our friends, acquaintances and companies and so on until today. My father, together with a team of more than 150 people, has spent more than 30 years researching the immune system to cure the other great pandemic that still affects us, HIV. They are a leading center in research worldwide and it could not be that due to lack of resources they could not use all their knowledge acquired over so many years to turn them against this new pandemic that affected us."

Since the health crisis began, a multitude of solidarity initiatives have emerged, of immediate help, of support for those economically affected... Why is it so necessary to remind society of the importance of research? “It is proven that supporting research and development, what is known as R&D, is essential for a country to prosper”, declares Natalia, convinced.

“We have to be aware that only if we anticipate the difficulties that we will encounter, can we be effective And for this you need a lot of resources. In research there is a maxim that is ‘more resources equal less time’, and with the coronavirus we have all learned the important thing which is to react quickly to fight effectively against a virus”.

This summer #YoMeCorono has launched a raffle to reward the solidarity of all the people who join the initiative –until October 24–, which consists of the raffle of a beautiful Camper Mercedes 407D, 100% customized. “It was an idea that we came up with at the end of last year. We decided to create a raffle to reward and thank the solidarity of all the people and companies that during this summer and until the end of October they join the #YoMeCorono initiative”, explains Marc.

The Camper, 100% customized, symbolizes freedom (and it can be yours).

PURE FREEDOM TO TRAVEL

Why is the prize precisely a Camper? “For us, it perfectly represents that freedom that we have longed for so much this year and a half of pandemic so what better prize? Pure freedom to travel! The name of the winner will be known on October 24, it will be done before a notary public coinciding with the closing of the Caravaning Show. The camperization has been possible thanks to the collaboration of more than 30 companies that have helped us to restore this beautiful vehicle in solidarity unique. It has been dreamy and has all the details so that one can feel at home!”.

Marc himself did years ago a caravan trip through the Black Forest in Germany, which he remembers fondly. “It was a beautiful trip. They have some spectacular campsites there. I fell in love with its forests and with each little town that seems to be taken from a fairy tale. I could certainly live in the city of Freiburg.” For her part, Natalia made many trips to Spain, Portugal and France as a child. in a motorhome with her family. “I remember a lot about a getaway we made to the French Basque Country, and visit the Dune of Pilat. I loved!".

Both Marc and Natalia have lived these last few months (and years…) without stopping for a second. “For many months we dedicated all our time to #YoMeCorono so that it could reach people, so that they would see the importance of the research that was being carried out and would like to contribute their grain of sand. There are already more than 80,000 people and companies who have joined and to whom we could not be more grateful. We will not stop until we can say that the coronavirus is part of the past.”

And they have not only been busy with this philanthropic work, since also, despite the difficulties, they have continued with their projects as actors: Natalia has pending the premiere of the series The Heirs of the Earth (Netflix), whose shooting ended a few months ago, and Marc has pending the premiere of the film 15 hours, directed by Judith Colell, which they already presented at the Malaga Festival, and in November the filming of a series will begin. And, in addition, their day to day is complete with their family life, which they show naturally on their social networks.

“Social networks are part of our lives and for us it is another tool of work that helps us to be close to those who follow our professional career –they comment–. Furthermore, it is an excellent platform to be able to communicate charitable causes and that they can reach many people. Without social networks, #YoMeCorono would not have existed and those people and companies that have joined They would not have been able to contribute their grain of sand to fight the coronavirus.”

What is the greatest traveling adventure you have experienced? “A trip I made alone through Argentina when I was 25 years old. I crossed the whole country until I reached Ushuaïa”, assures Marc. Natalia is clear: "The Garden Route, in South Africa, one of the most beautiful places on the planet. And together, a backpacking trip through Vietnam and Cambodia.”

We want to know your favorite destinations within Spain, but… you have a hard time choosing. “There are many, we have a country with so many beautiful places! We love the north of Spain, for its nature and gastronomy, Menorca for still maintaining its originality, and the south for its people, its energy and its landscapes”. The hotel they have most enjoyed traveling with children has been Mas Perafita, in the wineries of the Martin Faixó family, located in the middle of Cap de Creus (Girona), just before reaching Cadaqués. "We loved the food and the wines, all made by them in an artisanal way."

Yes indeed, his most memorable trip was to Dubai. The reason? “Lia (her daughter) took her first steps there. It was a very special trip and the last one just before the pandemic.”
