Under the title How Will We Live Together? (How will we live together?), the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale has focused this year on seek solutions to the current problems of the planet, such as political divisions, economic inequalities and environmental imbalance. A global appeal to which architects have responded with proposals as striking and sustainable as the new Mirante do Madadá hotel , designed by Atelier Marko Brajovic.

Facing Brazil's Anavilhanas National Park, this tourist complex located on the banks of the Negro River will offer travelers a total immersion in the environment and its biodiversity –always in communion with local communities– through a biomimetic architecture and wellness and outdoor experiences in the middle of the jungle.

DIALOGUE WITH NATURE

The seed-shaped structures have been organically organized in space by the studio, which has been supported by the topography of the land and has respected the existing local vegetation, only slightly intervened by the Clariça Lima Studio, which has devised visually permeable and comfortable landscaping.

The dialogue between open and closed spaces will be fluid thanks to the design of the architectural modules, which blend in with the environment, mimicking the appearance of the heads, the structures used by nature to protect plant organs.

The reception, the concierge, the bar, the restaurant, the lounge, the exhibition spaces and the infinity pool will occupy the Collective House, which looks from one side towards the river and from the other towards the jungle, and will be connected to 12 rooms through a series of walkways.

There will also be trails distributed throughout the property that will lead to the furthest point from the hotel: the Casa de Cura, a space inspired by the shapes of the Amazonian Victoria or Victoria Regia (a water lily with great prominence in the mythology of ancient cultures) in which yoga classes will be developed, massages and Ayurvedic baths will be performed and will serve as meeting place with the indigenous leaders of the region.

The interior design of the rooms will be in charge of ** the architect Marília Pellegrini ** and all the details of the architectural project are inspired by natural and cultural elements of the region, "intertwining signs and meanings, textures and materials, perceptions and paths".

Mirante do Madadá's sister project, Mirante do Gavião Lodge, designed by Atelier O'Reilly, is also present at the Biennial as part of the Time Space Existence exhibition, within the framework of the pre-launch of the AMA + ZÔNIA 2022 Biennial: an international forum that will bring together artists and professionals in a technical and scientific exchange that will seek economic and sustainable development of the region.

Because as Marko Brajovic states: “The Amazon is the place where the future of the planet is discussed and the objective is to shed light on these initiatives and collaborations that present possible forms of coexistence. Our purpose is talk about the Amazon in a positive and constructive way, presenting our creations that are symbiotically integrated into the natural and cultural ecosystem of the region”.
