In Ayllón, Segovia, we find an interesting example of new architecture and interior design. Its about Hotel Ayllon , a space that appears to the visitor with the sober austerity of the Castilian facades and whose interior, on the contrary, is cosmopolitan and sophisticated, organized around a patio with a style that could be called “natural – domestic”.

Ayllón is located in the extreme northeast of the province of Segovia, bordering Soria, located on the slopes of a reddish hill . It is a beautiful, well-preserved town, full of historic buildings from the 16th and 17th centuries. The hotel is located in the magnificent Plaza de Ayllón, next to the church of San Miguel, in an enclave where the memory of the past is expressed in simple architecture, always in harmony with the surrounding environment.

It has eighteen rooms, all different as it is a building with an irregular structure typical of popular architecture . They are decorated with furniture made by cabinetmakers, taking as reference 20th century designers. They have ample space for resting and views that, either through balconies, terraces or attics, open up to the landscaped courtyard or the historic center . Wood, Carrara marble and clean and pure forms give character to the rooms.

The interior design has been in charge of the architects Cristina Domínguez-Lucas and Fernando Hernandez-Gil, who have focused on creating an avant-garde air, but very close and natural, through the use of native materials . "We have sought to create an effect of simplicity and sobriety, that the space itself provides calm and tranquility, the nuances of color are provided by lighting," says Cristina. "There is not exactly a "decoration", the important thing is the materials such as untreated wood or Sepulveda stone".

In this way, the columns and stone pavements of the place and the whitewashed walls define the El Patio restaurant, made up of three concatenated dining rooms, with different environments for the different hours of the day . Wood carpentry in large windows and balconies, along with white walls and linens, make the hotel a bright, warm and comfortable space to taste a menu with the best typical dishes of the area, among which you can not miss the oxtail, the ox steak and the suckling lamb, along with the exquisite seasonal vegetables and boletus.
