Perfectly integrated into the environment
"Building in such a valuable environment comes with some obligations clear in terms of preserve natural beauty and the fauna and flora of the site," explains Kjetil Trædal Thorsen, founding partner of the architecture studio in charge of the project**, Snøhetta**. "For us, it was important to design a sustainable building to leave one minimal environmental footprint in this beautiful northern nature. The construction of a hotel 'positive energy' and low impact is an essential factor in creating a ecological tourist destination that respects the Unique features of the area, with its strange species of plants, its clean waters and the blue ice of the Svartisen glacier ".

The municipality of meloy , in the north of Norway, is the enclave chosen to implement this architectural prodigy which is part of the Plus Houses, a type of buildings that, over the course of 60 years, will generate more renewable energy than it consumes . In fact, it will exceed the total amount of energy you use daily, what it cost to build the place and produce the materials, and even the one that would derive from demolish building.
Only accessible by boat
The design of the hotel is not far behind in terms of innovation: its circular body will extend from the coast, to the foot of the mountain Almlifjelle t, towards the crystal clear waters of the fjord dutchfjorden . Thanks to its shape, it will have exceptional panoramic views of the fjord, giving the guest a full immersion experience in nature. In fact, the hotel will only be accessible from the Water, so we are already working on the creation of an "energy neutral" ship departing from the city of Bodø.
The structure of posts gives it a unique air
"The construction is inspired by the local vernacular architecture in form of fiskehjell (an A-shaped wooden structure for drying fish) and the rorbue (a traditional type of seasonal house used by fishermen) . The reference to rorbue can be seen in the support structure of the hotel, built from wooden poles weather-resistant rocks that extend several meters below the surface of the fjord. The studs ensure that the building has a minimal physical footprint in pristine nature, giving it an almost transparent ", they say from Snøhetta. We can't wait to see it built!
