Does traveling give you life?

"To all the girls who have a map of the world hanging in their room and dream of filling it with thumbtacks." This is the beginning of the recently published guide ** 'Travel for girls in a hurry' ** by journalist Carla Llamas and illustrator Georgina Gerónimo.

Is about a survival manual of about 90 pages in which some of the doubts, advice and problems that can arise in the trips of our century if you are a woman are addressed. “I think it is an ideal book to have on the bedside table or on the desk and, every time we go to prepare a trip, let's use it so we don't forget anything" , points out the journalist Carla Llamas.

The guide gives continuity to the Editorial Planeta series ‘For girls in a hurry’ and addresses all kinds of basic and essential issues such as best travel apps tips for traveling without exploit animals and what to do in case of sexual harassment.

In addition to tips for reuse , recycling and rejecting polluting objects on your trips, managing your budget, how to pack your suitcase or backpack, what documentation you need and how to carry it, how to find accommodation according to your travel style... have you missed something?

“Perhaps I would add a note about traveling with pets . It is not usual, but I know that there are people who travel with their pets”, adds Carla.

One of the most interesting parts is the one dedicated to responsable tourism . But to get to these tips, they have previously had to be put into practice. In Carla's case, this book is the result of 12 years traveling.

“In 2014 I began to become aware of the amount of waste that a person generates in his day to day. I started to reduce waste by traveling and sharing it on my social networks under the hashtag #TravelWithoutPlastic . It is a way to raise awareness and inspire my followers while they travel because many times we visit places where management is non-existent”.

This section has also been one of the most difficult to write and apply in real life, they say. “Especially because I start from the basis that traveling is not sustainable. The key is that if you lead a life consistent with your ideas in your day-to-day life, it makes no sense to leave those ideas parked when you go on vacation. I always carry a ' zero waste kit to avoid single-use waste that includes a reusable water bottle , a stainless steel straw , cutlery and a sandwich holder. The best thing is that when you start to open your eyes and to live and travel in this way, there is no turning back”, emphasizes Carla.
