The summer of national glamping

Cottage Les Coves

Can you imagine like this, here?

We have always had to look outside our borders to find glamping . For many years, we have admired those from Bolivia or Chile, desired those from California and envied those from Australia, but now it is the turn of Spain : although in our country it is not yet a very widespread concept, at this time when bubble hotels are a real rage or tree-houses are the new luxury, there are more and more rural accommodation who bet on him sustainable tourism and for privacy in the form of safari tents . We have finally realized that the country holidays they are the true (dis)connection.

ESTATE LES COVES (XIXONA, ALICANTE)

This natural paradise of 80 hectares in the nougat town is one of our latest discoveries. Three Rotterdammers ( Anna, Cees and Sander ) imagined this eco glamping totally sustainable ( 100% self-sufficient with solar energy) “childproof and pet friendly ” and made it a reality with accommodation for all tastes, in the form of a trip around the world: they have two exotic African safari tents , two minimalists scandinavian wooden cabins , a villa in a charming double cave house and, for larger groups, El Caracol, a rural house in Alicante style.

For more than two years, they have been welcoming people from all over the world: Dutch, Belgians, Germans and more and more Spaniards who decide to spend their holidays here. “ Having a glamping is like traveling , but in this case, people come to our house on a trip”. Anna Geertje Schram recognizes that living surrounded by nature and animals but a few kilometers from the sea (it is half an hour from the beach of San Juan or El Campello) makes everything easier, despite the fact that getting here has not exactly been a journey of roses: they have had to deal with the spanish bureaucracy , with the unforeseen daily modern ruralism and, this year, with a global pandemic. But they keep dreaming. In the future they want to expand their glamping with tree houses or create a hobbit village while their private farm continues to grow: they already have seven pigs, five dogs and three cats.

His concept, as brave as it is necessary, is completed with experiences that you can also enjoy even if you are not staying there, as appetizing yoga retreats and vegetarian or vegan dinners or brunches.

Don't leave without taking a picture of her colorful Miami Beach bar , without taking a dip in your chlorine-free swimming pool (purified with salt) or without doing any of the signposted routes inside the farm. take your dog (The experience is very enriching) and put insect repellent, good shoes, a hat and sun cream, a swimsuit and several books in your backpack. You won't need much more.

CAMPING EL GARROFER (SITGES, BARCELONA)

this flirty Catalan design campsite has four accommodations in glamping mode : a cabin-loft wooden with fireplace, one three-bedroom safari tent with outside barbecue , a tent with double bed futon type and private terrace and a small bubble-dome to see the stars before sleeping (which reminds us of the Huerto San Antonio in the Madrid mountains or the Masqi Energy House in Alicante).

They will make you fall in love (apart from their decoration), its saltwater pool with a snack bar included , its slow food cuisine (don't miss its breakfasts) and its terrace for an aperitif, which in spring and autumn hosts concerts by local artists.

CAN ELISA (TARBENA, ALICANTE)

They say that it is hard to get to all the places that are worthwhile: arm yourself with patience and don't be in a hurry, there are curves ahead. East rural accommodation for adults only has, in addition to two stone houses for couples, a unique and valued** safari tent** (you can check availability here), protected by mountains and with views of the Mediterranean. In the distance, Benidorm . Now you are in another world, surrounded by almond trees (which bloom in February), cherry trees and olive trees.

Linda and Jasper, Dutch, fell in love with this area on vacation: “It was 2011. We wanted to go to Malaga but all the flights were full, so we bought one to Alicante. And we just caught a few days of cold drop, but even so, we were captivated”. And they started looking for a house... until this land of 5,000 square meters where there was an old riurau (typical construction where the raisin was dried), crossed his path. "It took us two years to buy it, because we needed time to save... and to negotiate." And now this farm where time stands still is their way of life.

VERAGUA (VILLANUEVA DE LA VERA, CACERES)

We said that the region of the vera caceres It would be one of our first plans. And now the time has come go to sleep in the ecological stores of Veragua , to plan routes hiking through the Sierra de Gredos or to bathe in rivers, pools and waterfalls , surrounded by chestnut, fig, cherry, walnut and almond trees.

This Extremaduran glamping pet friendly and its microclimate makes it the perfect trip also in the autumn or even winter months.

JAVELIN COUNTR TENTS (PORT ROYAL, CADIZ)

In a family farm of 460 hectares of pine forest and Mediterranean mountain located in the Bahía de Cádiz Natural Park , Amparo has created a glamping that started with two fully equipped luxury safari tents (now there are four: Rockrose, Heather, Myrtle and Thyme ) and a small rural hotel ( the Dehesa House of the Yeguas ). In this quiet corner, and accompanied by donkeys, sheep, horses, ponies, dogs and cats, you will rediscover the simple and peaceful country life.

You will get a lot of use out of the porch of the safari tents , to the wooden tables in the form of a picnic area under the shade of the hundred-year-old pine trees and its magical nights under the stars , wrapped in the sounds of nature.

If you travel with children It will be like living in a permanent summer camp. With the beach 8 kilometers away, Cádiz 15 and Seville 100, it is a mandatory stop on one of your next Cadiz getaways.

CAMPING AT LAGOA (VALDOVIÑO, A CORUÑA)

this is pure glamping facing the Atlantic : a few meters from the A Frouxeira beach , this campsite offers two safari tents Y four Sibley bell tents . Write it down if you like surfing or body boarding, because the strong waves and constant wind make this sandbank of more than 3 kilometers open to the sea, a privileged place to practice sports. Also you can practice kayaking in Vilarrube, sailing in the reservoir, paragliding or paddle surfing.

Perhaps what we like about camping (and now, also and even more, about glamping) is that everyday feeling but, at the same time, relaxing. Here there is always time for silence, for a good book, for a nap on the fabric lounger and for evening walks under the stars.
