Let's go back to the Algarve

Oh, Portugal . That neighboring paradise whose memory always makes us sigh. Its beaches, its gastronomy, its climate, its wines, its crafts, its people...

unconditional love This is how we could describe our history with Portugal. An infinite romance full of sunsets on the shores of the Atlantic, nights with the smell of salt and waking up with the taste of pasteis de nata.

We really want to return to the neighboring country and **breathe the essence of the Algarve, rent a car and tour the Alentejo, lie in the sun in Cascais, mess up our hair in Comporta... ** And that's why this news couldn't make us happier:

The opening of the beaches is scheduled for June 6 throughout Portugal. The measure was announced by the Portuguese Prime Minister, António Costa, at a press conference, in which he pointed out that said opening would be carried out under strict security measures to guarantee the protection of visitors and workers, such as social distance and regular sanitation of bars and restaurants, with limited capacity.

SECURITY MEASURES ON PORTUGUESE BEACHES

The safety regulations against COVID-19 on the beaches of Portugal provide for a series of measures to be followed, such as the social distancing of 1.5 meters between users of the beach and 3 meters for umbrellas, awnings and sun loungers, which may not be occupied by more than five people.

Also, it is planned to establish circulation corridors, the regular sanitization of bars and restaurants, with limited capacity, and the mandatory use of a mask for street vending, among other rules.

The occupation of each beach can be consulted in real time through an application that will classify the beaches by colors –green: low occupancy; yellow: medium occupancy; red: full– and All sports activities with two or more people will be prohibited, except nautical activities, surf classes and similar sports.

THE ALGARVE: OUR IDYLL WITH THE SOUTH

In the Algarve region, currently, 33% of hotel units are open in the Algarve, “a figure that will increase to 75% in June. Starting in July, the hotel plant will be fully operational”, explained João Fernandes.

In addition, the intrinsic characteristics of the region make it an ideal destination for these moments in which the words "social distance" are part of our daily lives: accommodation in the form of villas, agro-tourism projects and a coastline with kilometers of beaches such as Ilha Deserta or the beaches of Culatra, Armona, Salema or Monte Clérigo, on the Costa Vicentina.

The Algarve Tourism Region is making every effort to promote the reactivation of tourist activity in the region, in collaboration with Turismo de Portugal and the health authorities.

Thus, they have developed security measures and protocols, such as the 'Clean & Safe' seal, in force since the end of April, and last weekend the Manual of Good Practices of the Algarve was launched.

All this has allowed that today golf courses, marinas, car rental companies and restaurants are already operational in the Algarve.

The 33% of the hotels that are already open will be added soon beaches and water parks, which is scheduled to open in June. They will in June the Zoomarine and the Slide&Splash and in July the Aquashow Park, all of them under strict safety and hygiene measures.
