Oh, blessed times those in which milk appeared every morning as if by magic in a glass bottle at the door of the house.
Unfortunately, we are not only losing the trades of yesteryear, such as the iconic milkman , to give in to the new technologies -"why order at the counter when you can do it in a self-service machine?"-, but we are also punishing our beloved planet with ** a sea of waste that is difficult to recycle.**

Now loop , an initiative of the company ** TerraCycle ** -an innovative waste management company-, joins the responsible consumption , offering customers a wide range of commonly used products (including milk) packaged in reusable containers.
“Loop allows consumers to buy products that are not available in bulk stores (biscuits, orange juice, soft drinks...) from leading brands in the market that currently do not offer options of this type”, he points out Clemence Bernard-Colombat , Public Relations Manager of Loop Europe.
Glass jars are not just for vegetables
“Bulk stores are great, but not all consumers are willing to shop at them as it takes a bit of effort: they need to bring their own containers, the place may not be close to their homes, sometimes the products they need are not there... That's where Loop comes in, which aims to offer a solution to this,” she adds.
How does the process work? Once the purchased product is finished, the company will collect the container, which will be cleaned, refilled and, therefore, reused , leading to a circular purchasing process.
“Some bottles are made of glass , other of stainless steel like those of soft drinks or like the containers of ice cream and pasta. On the other hand there are also containers made of simple plastics (that can be easily recycled at the end of its useful life)”, tells us Clémence Bernard-Colombat.
Loop supports a circular purchasing process
Customers will be able to **place an order on the Loop (United States or France), Kroger or Walgreens websites **, which will be delivered to their homes. After use, the empty containers must be deposited in the reusable Loop bags (the same ones in which they were sent) and your collection will be scheduled through the web.
This company has not only proposed to reinvent the current form of purchase by making citizens aware of the need for responsible consumption , but also encourages manufacturers to make containers that serve the long term.
“Brands are responsible for the design of their own packaging and we encourage each brand in Loop to design the most exclusive, durable and innovative packaging to offer the consumer the best possible experience”, says Clémence Bernard-Colombat.

On the other hand, to ensure that the process is followed, Loop will charge a small deposit for each product ordered , which the customer will recover immediately after the return of the container.

This platform has been created with the aim of uniting technology and sustainability: "Yesterday's milkman model with the convenience of e-commerce" , that is the great combination that defines the DNA of Loop, in the words of Tom Szaky, its founder and CEO.
“Loop has been released in Paris, in New York and the Northeast of the United States in May of this year. In a few months it will arrive in ** London , Toronto , San Francisco , Tokyo and Germany .** We hope to expand to more countries in the coming years”, Clémence tells us.
