Isla del Burguillo, the unknown private island in Ávila.
That ** Ávila ** is a province with surprising charms we have already told you on more than one occasion, but it may be strange for you to know that ** it has a totally private island and that it is possible to rent it on vacation. **
Burguillo Island is in the Burguillo Reservoir , in the Alberche river basin that separates the Sierras de Gredos and Guadarrama. And best of all, it's one hour from Madrid and about 30 minutes from Ávila.
Its history, as its name indicates, is directly related to the Burguillo Reservoir , built in 1913 during the reign of Alfonso XIII. In 1926 was when the island was created and in 1979 when the property was acquired by Fernando Merino who built his castle, the wall, the grove , and installed drinking water service and electricity. It wasn't until 2017 that the family decided to open it as a vacation rental.

Undoubtedly, the environment is one of its strong points, the Burguillo Reservoir with its granite rock basin It collects crystal clear water from the Sierra de Gredos, for this reason its "beach" is white sand and transparent waters.

In fact, a few kilometers away is the Iruelas Valley Nature Reserve , declared a Special Protection Area for Birds, where the Chestnut of Time , one of the most magical forests in Spain.
