Opus, the spectacular hotel by Zaha Hadid Architects in Dubai.

We knew that the building Opus by Zaha Hadid It was one of the most anticipated openings of the year, not only in the neighborhood of Dubai Burj Khalifa , that is where it is located, if not all over the world.

Building, the only one in Dubai designed by Zaha Hadid both inside and out , was inaugurated last March; and although we knew all the details of its exterior, little was known about the interior.

The building is an architectural jewel that houses one of the most avant-garde hotels of ME by Meliá with 74 rooms and 19 suites , plus 12 restaurants, including the Japanese restaurant** Roka** and the brasserie Maineland , a rooftop and some 5,200 square meters of offices.

The impressive exterior.

Total 84,300 square meters of surface and more than 820 meters high in which the giant hole that crosses the building and that joins the two towers stands out.

During the day, the cube facade reflects the sky, the sun and the surrounding city through its mirrors ; while at night, it is illuminated by an individually controlled dynamic LED light installation within each glass panel. A true technological work!

But, how is the inside? This past month, Zaha Hadid's studio offered images of some of the rooms and halls of the enigmatic Opus. Thanks to them we could see in the interior** the furniture exclusively designed by Zaha Hadid**.

The sofas that appear in the hall, like the rest of the furniture, are designed for long life, meaning they are made from durable and recyclable materials . They all belong to the textile brand petalinas collection . In addition, the counters are covered with gold walls and stripes that light up. Above the lobby,** three glazed floors**, also illuminated in gold.

Each hotel room has a bed designed by Zaha Hadid and with mattresses that sit on a sculptural frame projecting from the wall . The bathrooms come from the 2015 Vitae collection by Zaha Hadid for Noken Porcelanosa**. As a curiosity, all the designs were already ready in 2007, but due to the death of the architect in 2017 they had to be delayed.

Another of the peculiarities of Opus is its commitment to recycling and sustainability . In addition to being fully glazed to harness natural light and save energy, Opus features sensors that automatically adjust ventilation and lighting based on occupancy to conserve energy, while ME Dubai follows the international initiatives of Meliá Hotels for sustainable practices.

This means that ** guests receive stainless steel water bottles to use during their stay **, which they can refill thanks to the drinking water dispensers installed throughout the hotel. There are also no plastic bottles in the rooms and they have created a program to be completely plastic free in all areas.

And there is more, because they are reducing food waste by not serving buffets and have composters to recycle organic waste.

Energy saving is one of its main qualities.
