LuzMadrid: the festival that will light up the city this fall

Following the example of Lyon, Frankfurt, Brussels, Lisbon, Tallinn, Eindhoven and Turin , Madrid joins the list of European capitals that, at least once a year, dress in the suit of lights The first edition of LuzMadrid, the lighting festival that will be held on October 28, 29, 30 and 31 , was born in order to value the urban landscape of the capital.

For it, more than 20 spaces in Madrid will host the works of national and international artists -from France, Canada, Finland and Australia– specialized in the art of lighting.

At nightfall, during 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. , the 24 creations –which will use resources such as video, installation, artificial intelligence, movement or mapping can be visited for free.

The Puerta de Alcalá, the park of Retirement , the expansion of the Prado National Museum , the Paseo del Prado, the Crystal Gallery of the Palacio de Cibeles, the facade of the Cybele Palace, the facade of Casa de América, the Gardens of the Buenavista Palace, the facade of the Treasury Government Area, the Metropolis building, the chamfer of Four Seasons Hotel , the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, the door of the sun , the Plaza Mayor, the Plaza de la Villa, the Plaza de Isabel II, the facade of the Royal Palace , the esplanade of the Puente del Rey, the slaughterhouse , the center of contemporary culture Count Duke, Mercury Square and the Alameda Castle (these last two, in the district of Barajas), have been the locations chosen to unleash the light.

The thread of the circuit? art and entertainment , tools through which the artists will explore new forms of expression and meaning of public space.

lightmadrid , committed to the responsibility and sustainability environmental , has been created by the Madrid City Council with the aim of celebrating the registration of the Landscape of Light on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

To reduce your ecological footprint to a minimum, lightmadrid has a company specialized in sustainability management systems in events that contemplates the guidelines established by the General Directorate of Sustainability and Environmental Control of the Madrid City Council.

In addition, the festival will also undergo the environmental assessment of the organization international A Greener Festival in order to qualify for homonymous award ‘AGF Award’, awarded to those events that meet the rigorous environmental requirements.

Regarding the list of participants, Antoni Arola, Javier Riera, Alicia Moneva, Erik Barray Workshop, Onionlab, Juanjo Llorens, Javier de Juan, Maxi Gilbert, Groupe Laps, OTU Cinema, Daniel Iregui, Ángel Haro, Amanda Parer (Parer Studio), Luzinterruptus, SpY, Juan A Fuentes Muñoz, Charles Sandison, Collectif Coin, Miguel Chevalier, Maurici Ginés (artec3 Studio), Studio Chevalvert and Eyesberg they will be the creative souls invited to give life to this first edition of the LuzMadrid festival.

On the other hand, they will also participate designers, architects and the citizens themselves , who with projects and interventions will contribute their decorative granite in facades, squares, vegetal elements and streets.
