The street art festival will take place from May 4 to 30

A year ago we welcomed summer (and to the new normal) walking insatiably through the streets of our city, and who at that time lived in Madrid could delight in fascinating works of street art.

This time, the eighth edition of C.A.L.L.E celebrate the long-awaited spring conquering all passers-by in Lavapiés with colorful interventions, which will take over the streets from May 4 to 30.

beyond converting the Madrid neighborhood in an open-air museum C.A.L.L.E was born eight years ago with the aim of uniting all those people who weave day to day in Lavapiés: from neighbors to merchants , passing through those who visit it regularly.

In this way, the windows of 50 shops -shops, bars and restaurants- they will become the canvas where the same number of artists will capture their creativity. On the other hand, the festival will feature the participation of some special guests: our elders , for whom this 2021 has been more uphill.

This wonderful cultural initiative has been possible thanks to the Association of Merchants and Entrepreneurs of Lavapiés. In addition, it is curated by Madrid Street Art Project and supported by Cervezas Alhambra.

To delight in the works of STREET It will be enough to walk through Lavapiés, join one of the guided tours or participate in one of the gymkhanas (Street Art Hunt) -activities to be organized until May 27th-.

THE ARTISTS

C.A.L.L.E invites us to enjoy the art of different artists and therefore in different formats: painting on glass, as in the case of artists Alba Bla, Juay or Nernelada ; of showcase installations such as those of Pau La Pan or Álvaro Vidal; or of photographic works such as that of Tetabú.

In addition, there will be no painting on facades , by artists such as Sortwo, Dirty or Palomals.

THE PROGRAMING

Today, May 4, C.A.L.L.E kicks off with the work Alhambra. Created by guest artist Digo Diego , an internationally recognized Madrilenian for his colorful social commitment, will become the first piece (out of competition) of the urban art show.

His great creation, will be finished on May 9 , has been named 'Traverses. The reflection of our skill when walking' and constitutes a metaphor about our growth: the artist has conceived the journeys as a learning process, comparing the art of sailing with overcoming obstacles that we meet in the great journey of life.

“The graphic language used is nourished in its semantic game composition , where geometry and abstraction they add up to shape the work, ”said the creator of it.

The May 7th The interventions will continue filling the streets of Lavapiés with color: Our elders will take over the brushes and sprays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m..

From the hand of the artist Paul Latuburu, who has designed the poster of C.A.L.L.E 2021 , these invited artists will carry out their work in the shop window ACEVEDO , in Miguel Servet street, 5.

Lastly, during the week of May 10 to 17 , the artists will give life to the interventions that will opt for one of the three prizes: the jury, the public or the Alhambra prize , delivered on may 27th.
