Mercedes , this is how the residents of the Barrio del Oeste have baptized the building of the Joaquín Costa street number 4 of Salamanca in which Ricardo Cavolo has dedicated two days to decorate the four floors of him with naif drawings.
But why this name? In honor of the artist's mother , the main face of this work of urban art in which he tells his story through vignettes. “I am starting to show my innermost self in my work , and this was a perfect occasion”, explains Cavolo.
“ Each floor shows a stage of my mother's life We go from his childhood to the present. My mother has had a life with very different and interesting stages, ”he adds.
The Barrio del Oeste is an open-air museum, where paintings in garages or artistic interventions into facades they turn the streets into a gallery that already has some two hundred works.
For its part, **the neighborhood association of the Barrio del Oeste (ZOES) ** is proud of this new piece that has been incorporated into the collection of urban works. "It is a privilege that Ricardo Cavolo has created this mural dedicated to his mother in this place," they tell us.

“ I liked seeing how the Barrio del Oeste has been filling more and more with murals. From what I know of Salamanca, it is a fairly immobile city, and what is happening in this neighbourhood, at the hands of ZOES, is an exception”, Cavolo points out.
Two days were enough for Cavolo to capture his creativity on the whitewashed facade of the building. Forty-eight hours during which hundreds of gazes stopped at his feet to contemplate with admiration how the white color was dyed red, blue and feelings.
“I did not choose the building, ZOES did it for me, but I loved the choice. I had never painted on a partitioned facade with balconies and it has forced me to change in terms of composition. I like these challenges ”, Ricardo Cavolo tells Traveler.es.
