Produced by InterNations, a global community of expatriates that brings together some 4 million members, the results of the Expat City Ranking they are obtained from the annual Expat Insider survey in which this 2020 more than 15,000 people of 173 nationalities residing in 181 countries or territories have participated. The interviewees were asked to rate 25 aspects of urban life abroad, giving them scores from one to seven.

With these qualifications, four main indices were created on Urban Quality of Life, Finance and Housing, Urban Work Life, and finally, What it's like to settle in the city. Based on them, it was classified the 66 cities studied around the world, in which a minimum sample of 50 participants was required in each one.

The five Spanish cities that have been evaluated in the Expat City Ranking have in common its good score in the categories of quality of urban life and ease of settling in that city. Instead, lacking when it comes to job opportunities, considering them mediocre or directly poor.

In fact, in the case of Valencia, the city of Turia is always among the top five in all the indices analyzed except one, coming to occupy the first position in the Quality of urban life and the Cost of local life (94% of those surveyed value it positively). In addition, in Finance and housing it takes third place worldwide and fourth if we talk about the ease of settling in it. Things change if we focus on job opportunities, where Valencia falls to position number 46.

So, if the evaluation of Spanish cities is so similar, why isn't Barcelona also in the TOP 10? As well, Barcelona does not make it easy in the areas of Cost of living and Finance and rent.
