There is life beyond beans, fajitas and nachos with cheese. Mexican cuisine is something else and you can see it at Pikio Taco , a small taqueria in the Gracia neighborhood.

The atmosphere, sensational, with the colorful paintings of Zosen and the warm welcome from the Mexican chef, Fernando Sanz. Another virtue of the place is that it is open every day and its kitchen is located inside the same bar, so you can see how they cook. In Pikio there is no trap or cardboard.

“You are going to taste an authentic Mexican breakfast”, Sanz warns us with a smile. Attention! Motuleños eggs with peas (peas), a typical recipe of the South of Mexico which leaves us in shock.

We arrived at the star dish, the taco. Here it is the king and there are different options for carnivores, vegetarians and coeliacs. “Our star taco is the Aguascalientes , with pork carnitas confit in butter for five hours. It has avocado sauce and pico de gallo, tomato and cilantro”.
