Barcelona on fire: the Sant Antoni neighborhood

tickets

Tickets, life covers.

We review some of the gastronomic novelties that have appeared in recent times and we give even more reasons to stop by for a vermouth, for a snack, for dinner, to be part of the movement.

Parlament street itself starts off strong, greeting visitors who have just come out of the metro with the addition of ** La Xalada (Parlament 1), a beautiful restaurant specializing in tapas** that also offers hearty traditional dishes. The corner terrace and the careful interior invite you to prolong the after-meal conversation as long as possible. We already talked about the artisan donuts at La donutería (Parlament 20), wall to wall with the Comet, but we take the opportunity to recommend again and always the bacon and maple syrup donut.

The Xalada

Good atmosphere and good tapas

Almost opposite, the recently landed Crum (Parlament 15) forces us to pay attention to the virtues of the humble and miraculous tubers: a place specialized in serving fries of different varieties, cuts and sauces combined to guarantee a perfect elaboration. Because we all love them (scientifically proven that there is no one who does not like them), but it is surprising how much it costs to find a well-made potato chip. In Crum they show that they have chosen the name of the inventor of the chips for a reason.

In the next block, the already consolidated winery Vinito (Parlament 27), next to the Calders, proudly shows off its barrels, the ideal place to have an aperitif or vermouth. Between this and the Federal, the Taínos multidisciplinary shop-workshop-space (Parlament 35) has converted its outdoor area into a cafeteria, L'ambigú, creating a curious effect of a vintage warehouse in which the sofas and siphons mix with the cotton dresses for sale

the chirusa

Love for Argentina

Next to the Taranná, La Chirusa (Viladomat 23) is a small bar but decorated with the proverbial cuteness and taste exhibited by those who have arrived in recent years. They serve argentinidad in the form of empanadas, alfajores and other tempting sweets forming an Argentine pseudo-route through the area that could be completed with visits to Ocho BCN (Tamarit 109), which you have to go through meat , and empanadas from Laurel (Floridablanca 140) or Rekons (Urgell 32).

From Argentina we went to Mallorca in the neighboring Ido Balear (Viladomat 43), a mixture of shop and tasting room where the sobrasada, ensaimada and many other Majorcan products are discovered . It is a very pleasant rustic place perfect for eating, vermouthing or snacking where sandwiches, cocas, sausages and even a daily menu are served at an unbeatable price. Continuing with internationality, the Caravela Gourmet (Manso 13) is a shop and tasting place specializing in portuguese products whose benefits we already glossed here.

Gone Balearic

The best of Mallorca, in Barcelona

On the same street we welcome the arrival of Manso's café (Manso 1), a nordic style cafe with sweets (pay attention to the cinnamon rolls) in which it is impossible not to notice. They also serve quiches, salads and imported beers, but always leave room for their homemade sweets. At his side, the also newcomer Casa Martino (Manso 1) b seeks to supply the area's vermouth offer on weekends , when getting a chair or a place at a bar can get really complicated.

If we turn towards the sea, at 27 Calle Marqués del Campo Sagrado the Tonka has been attracting people for some time with its _ brunch _ , his cocktails and his menu of delicious and healthy dishes. On Calle Aldana (the southern border of the district) Jonny Aldana (Aldana 9) and Olimpia (Aldana 11) are the kings of modern vermouth, with two adjacent venues - so different and similar at the same time - equally overflowing with roll and molonity.

tonka

Tonka brunch, irresistible

In the most high concept culinary section, the brothers Iglesias and Albert Adrià continue (associated or in their separate projects) with their plan for world domination. El Tickets, a true Paralel hotspot (much more so than the new Molino) that gathers the cabaret heritage of the street in its decoration and the Bulli's creative heritage knocks it all down on its plates , has just been expanded with a candy area that guarantees its permanence among that group chosen by the most pro gourmets.

We already talked about the powerful establishments on Calle Lleida here, and the magic triangle is complete -for the moment- with Bodega 1900 (Tamarit 91) (which is somewhat reminiscent of the old Inopia -today Lolita tapería-, that bar that Adrià had set up when the area was not yet the bustling bustle that it is today) and the Mexican additions of the Niño Viejo and the Hoja Santa (avinguda Mistral 54) .

tickets

A cabaret experience

A taqueria and a more formal restaurant -about to open- that raise the level of Mexican gastro presence in the city . While waiting for the reopening of the renovated 41º, one of those places that alone motivate a gastronomic trip to Barcelona, this tandem of professionals continues to be omnipresent.

If the presence of so many new (and not so new) names and places to try saturates and creates anxiety, let's relax, because after all we are talking about food. There will always be places like Bodega d'en Rafel (Meek 52) or the Bohemian (Manso 42) , old well-known masters of good work who maintain the type for those who have never heard the word hipster in their lives. And also for those who do know her.
