A WALK
As Menorca is to be enjoyed in the open air, we have chosen a section of the Camí de Cavalls , a long-distance path that follows the perimeter of the island along the coast. In the southwest of the island a Menorcan mansion from the 16th century it was saved from ruin with the purpose of creating an ideal rest corner for couples. Its owners, Lindsay Mullen and Sheelagh Ratliff, a Post-Impressionist painter and clothing designer, made it big in the Hotel Biniarroca , after a careful restoration. The exposed wood and stone in the arches and walls set the rustic mark, while the garden, invaded by lavender, roses and bougainvillea, is one of its strong points. Of its 18 rooms, the suites overlook the garden and have a king size bed. In the hotel there are two swimming pools that seem to have been brought from an Italian villa , one of them exclusively for guests staying in the suites. The breakfasts are stocked with homemade cakes, fruit and local cheeses , and are served on the terrace to start the day with a good dose of sun. But it does not end there: the restaurant, with island dishes and ingredients from its own garden, offers a refined cuisine that has earned a considerable reputation in its 15 years of existence.
