Thus, we find Buckle Street Studios , a 13-storey building located in Aldgate East, London , which has 103 rooms, a space of co-working for guests, a cafeteria, meeting rooms, and also a shop.
Property of loke, This space is one of his latest launches, and has been conceived by the American architect, Matthew Grzywinski , of Grzywinski+Pons.

“Matthew Grzywinski is the design visionary for the first four Locke premises . Being able to simultaneously design the exterior and interior of the building gave us a great opportunity to take advantage of the architectural advantages we created, and erect a truly integrated experience. The space that Matt has designed is intentionally ambiguous: it is not obvious whether the building is an art gallery, a concept store, a co-working space or a hotel , and in many ways, it is everything,” he says. The inspiration behind this proposal has had a lot to do with the neighborhood's urban landscape, which includes a mix of historic low-rise buildings and contemporary skyscrapers . “During the planning process, we worked to ensure that the design acted as a middle ground between these opposing buildings – using materials and an architectural language that mediated between the two styles.”
Located opposite the original Locke — Leman Locke — which opened in Aldgate East in 2016, Buckle Street Studios focuses on creating fluid, hybrid spaces where guests can comfortably stay for a few days, weeks, or longer.
His 103 contemporary studies are divided into 87 self-catering apartments and living room, as well as 16 hotel-type rooms . The latter, ideal for short stays, include a king bed and bathroom, while the micro-studio features a king bed, kitchenette with dining tables and chair available upon request.
The space bears the signature of Matthew Grzywinski, of Grzywinski+Pons.
The study locke It contains a slightly larger room, with a king bed, a sofa, a kitchen with a dishwasher and a dining table. The two bedroom suite, on the other hand, can accommodate up to four guests , thanks to a separate bedroom and another in the living space, as well as a sofa, fully equipped kitchen, dining table, dishwasher and washer/dryer, being perfect for larger groups or families . It should be noted that all rooms have access to the common laundry.
"The Buckle Street Studios interiors they are intentionally enigmatic: pushing the hybrid concept that Locke has defined beyond any of our previous placements. The social spaces have been conceived as an art gallery meets concept store, with museum-style display cases housing coveted store curiosities,” adds Eric Jafari.
As for the interiors, the feeling of calm takes hold through curved furniture, smooth arches and wooden walls in a color range of neutral tones. The same approach has been used in the apartments, with soft neutral tones and a moody lighting style.
Buckle Street Studios offers stays of a few days, weeks or longer.
The space of co-working It has also been designed to become the epicenter of the neighborhood, where all inhabitants are welcome to work, socialize or participate in one of the free cultural activities they offer.
“From a practical point of view, we often host guests who travel for work, giving them the freedom to work from their apartment or from a casual co-working space . We also have meeting rooms in our properties, available for guests to reserve if they need them.”
Those who stay there will have access to all social spaces, including the co-working area, the concept store, the meeting room and the Shaman pantry . In addition, they will also be able to use the social spaces of Leman Locke, the property next to Buckle Street Studios . This includes a gym, the Shaman cafeteria, the co-working and the vegan restaurant Alter, from chef Andy Hogben.
