'Renaissance'
There are not a few big events that we have seen canceled during the past year for obvious reasons. The XVII edition of the Venice International Architecture Biennale it was scheduled for May-November 2020 and also saw its opening cut short. Now, it's time to pick up what we let go and that's why this month will be the new reception date , with a spinal axis already glimpse what we can find: the future.
How will we live together? This has been the theme proposed by your curator, architect Hashim Sarkis , dean of the MIT School of Architecture and Planning. The simple fact that this question was raised before the pandemic seems like witchcraft, considering that it now makes more sense than ever. The health crisis presents challenges that must be faced from all disciplines, and one of them is architecture.

THE SPANISH PAVILION
The Spanish proposal in this edition is clear in intentions. After a public tender called for the first time, the winning suggestion was Uncertainty . The team in charge is made up of Canarian architects Sofía Piñero, Domingo J. González, Andrzej Gwizdala and Fernando Herrera . There were 466 projects that received, of which have selected an exhibition of 34.
With a title that already gives us clues about the questions that will be put on the table, the curators themselves have clarified that, far from answering the main theme, raises new questions about an uncertain future . Even so, they do make clear the only certainty and that is that the future starts from a base of community and group, not from individualism.
The projects speak for themselves when it comes to proposals that they are not based on the architecture that we know as such , but go hand in hand with other disciplines such as music, poetry, education, agriculture, cinema, dance, video games or tourism . In this way, it is intended to demonstrate that this art does not live only on construction, in its most superficial sense.

uncertainty sheds light on a context that is still blurred and reaffirms itself in the role of architecture as the main element of development and essential for our well-being. All these metaphorical conversations will be articulated in an interactive way in the pavilion.
First, visitors will find a Portfolio Cloud . Here you will come across sheets of paper on which the different suggestions will appear and how to carry them out in order to live together. From there, they will go to Draw, four rooms composed of abstract pieces representing the selected projects. And finally they will come to Together, an audiovisual projection that recounts the selection process of the projects from the Cloud.
The Spanish Pavilion opens today, May 21, at 1:00 p.m. and can be visited in Venice until November 2021 . An opportunity to reflect on the future and realize that It will only be understood if we think about it together.
