An art house in Castellón.
dutch artist Xander Spronke searched for years for a place to create his artwork , a vacation home but conceived as a sculpture at the same time. He went through Switzerland, through the mountains of Ticino, he searched in Sicily, Corsica... there was no way to find a quiet and peaceful place to create it but he did not give up.
“I crossed Spain by car from the southeast to Galicia. I often found peace and calm, but not the stable climate I was looking for,” he tells Traveler.es. In that investigation he found a place that seemed to respond to all his needs: Les Useres, in Castellón.
This area they call " Spanish Tuscany" full of olive and almond trees would be the place where he would build your home art . “It is an oasis of peace and beauty. Plus, it turned out that anything was possible…here I could unleash my creativity,” adds Xander.
He started in 2013, but it was not until 2018 that he was able to see his finished work. Now you can finally breathe happily seeing it finished in its entirety. And yes, you can stay in it .
“The time has come for architecture lovers . I hope that every visitor consider the house as a work of art and not as a place of residence”, explains the Dutch architect and sculptor to Traveler.es.

SpronkenHouse was built in a space of four hectares and 30 minutes from the sea , in the hills of Castellón. One of the most significant peculiarities are the huge concrete beams that seem to be taken from a Greek pantheon and that measure 6 meters high.
Everything seems to blend in with the environment thanks to the windows and its large windows, from where you can contemplate the Penyagolosa summit of 1,800 meters high . And although it may seem like a single house, it is divided into two, baptized as East Wing and West Wing . Both occupy 310 square meters of living space.

In each of them you will find a swimming pool, heating, a kitchen equipped with a wood oven to make a delicious paella and not lose the customs of the land, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and... 58 solar power panels because Xander has created two completely ecological houses.
In fact, he wanted to keep some of the raw materials used, such as concrete or wooden beams that are unvarnished.
A place away from everything in Castellón.
The decoration is inspired by a free and creative lifestyle where art, architecture and motorcycles play an important role. They have preserved the simplicity and authenticity of the house with small additions, such as furniture designed by artist Stephen Kenn of The Angels . Also small wrought iron sculptures made by himself can be found.
