Kilauea Iki is one of the most popular trails in Hawaii , and it's not unreasonable, considering that it's close to the crater of the Kilauea volcano , one of the two assets, along with Mauna Loa, in the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park . Who can resist visiting this natural temptation?
Until a year ago, visitors could walk along the path , see the crater and still feel the heat of the lava. But on May 11, 2018 this volcano lived the largest eruption in its history , destroying everything in its path and forcing the park to close.
