Tenerife: the absolute winner
Tripadvisor just published your report ‘Summer Vacation 2019’ , which highlights the ten most popular national destinations for this summer based on the booking interests of Spanish travellers.
After surveying more than 1,500 travelers , the first conclusion was that 95% have in mind to enjoy summer vacations, compared to 91.5% who claim to have traveled last summer.
Of the survey participants, 39% will travel to national destinations this summer. And which destination ranks number one in the ranking of the most popular? Drumroll... Tenerife!
Tenerife is the preferred Spanish destination for a summer trip, followed by Benidorm and Majorca.
Mallorca, the third favorite destination of the Spanish
The two archipelagos are the big winners in the ranking, as the list of the ten most popular destinations includes four destinations from the **Canary Islands (Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura) ** and three from the Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza) .
Andalusia completes the list with two destinations, Roquetas de Mar (in fourth position) and ** Chiclana de la Frontera ** (in eighth position).
Benidorm, the second in the ranking
The survey has also revealed that 37% of Spaniards will spend their summer holidays in another country, with ** London being the most popular destination, followed by New York and Paris. **
Five European destinations complete the ranking –Albufeira (fourth position), Rome (fifth position), Sardinia (sixth position) Santorini (eighth position) and Amsterdam (ninth position) – and two Caribbean countries –Dominican Republic (in seventh position) and Cuba (in tenth position) .
The remaining 24% will spend their holidays both in national and international destinations.
Regarding the motivation when choosing a destination, 4 out of 10 are moved by the interest they have in knowing the destination , yes ok 16.5% are guided by prices (flights, hotel deals, vacation packages, etc.) .
Regarding the duration and price of trips , the majority will be gone for **two weeks (35.5%) ** and will have a budget of between 1,000 and 3,000 euros per person (including transport, accommodation, restaurants, leisure…) .
What will they dedicate this budget to? Between 10 and 20% will go to local sights or attractions and between 20 and 40% to restaurants.
36% of travelers will do so in August , 25% in July, 22% in September and 17.5% in June.
As for our fellow travelers, 39% will spend the holidays with family, 17% with friends and 4% will be encouraged to travel alone. The remaining 1% will travel in a group with strangers.
Lanzarote, an island from which you will not want to return
Where will we stay? The Hotels they continue to be the preferred accommodation of Spaniards (49%) and also 33.5% of those surveyed assured have booked more than three months in advance , while 32% did so two or three months earlier.
The good news is that it increases environmental awareness and eco-responsibility, since 28% say they will be more eco-responsible during their summer trip, compared to last year.
Some of the measures that Spaniards will take the most to respect the environment on vacation are pay more attention not to leave waste in nature, recycle more during the stay or try to generate less garbage.
