The Palace of the Dukes of Osuna will open to the public in 2023
El Capricho, located in Alameda de Osuna, is one of the most beautiful and, for many, the most unknown parks in Madrid, Well, among its deep trees, it hides fascinating secrets, bucolic corners, romantic monuments and even a bunker from the Civil War.
This garden was built between 1787 and 1839 for the Dukes of Osuna and Its main promoter was the Duchess, Doña María Josefa de la Soledad Alonso Pimentel, who created an authentic orchard that was frequented by some of the most illustrious characters of the time.
In this incredible place there are temples, fountains, hermitages and the Palace of the Dukes of Osuna, which, after completing the restoration works, will open in 2023, hosting an interactive space, with 3D projections, conference rooms and permanent exhibitions, where the figure of the Duchess will be the protagonist.

Thus, the Department of Culture, Tourism and Sports will address, from the month of September, the definitive works of rehabilitation of this historical space located in the district of Barajas.
In addition, the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage plans to start these works and the museum installation in approximately 16 months, since You can work on the museography while the auctions of the works are finalized.
As explained in the Committee on Culture, Tourism and Sport, the work includes the repair of the roofs of the building that were last fixed in the early 1980s by the workshop schools that existed then.
The forecast is that from the last quarter of 2022 the museum can begin to be set up in the palace. The opening to the public of this cultural space is scheduled for the first half of 2023.

The Palace will house the Museum of El Capricho, conceived as a center that will revolve around various aspects of the history of Madrid since the 18th century.
The three key axes of this project are: the heritage value of the historic complex garden/palace, illustration and the beginning of consciousness women when directing and developing important public or private projects.
On the one hand, "the relevance of the El Capricho park itself will be valued and complemented, that the City Council has preserved and cared for with special dedication in recent decades", they report in a statement. In that sense, "the museum will become an interpretation center for the park, to which it will dedicate an important part of its exhibition space".
On the other hand, regarding the historical contextualization of the interpretative contents, "it has as a reference Spain at the end of the 18th century and the 19th century, fundamentally, although it also extended to the stage of the Civil War and, even, to the uses that have been given to the space before its municipal management, such as, for example, as a place for a cinematographic setting", they expose from the Madrid City Council.

This contextualization will emphasize the first stage of it, the conception of it by the Duchess of Osuna as a space in which she gave free rein to her enlightened noble mentality.
