Rêver Club: the cabaret that Madrid needed
Blackout. A thread of green light opens, sparkling crystals and glasses while a dazzlingly beautiful showgirl descends the stairs, almost sliding down some impossible steps, while Line Renaud comes out of her mouth to the sound of 'copacabana' . She has started the show and we have just begun to toast with the first gin and tonic of the night.
And the drag queen provokes a roar, a deafening cheer from night owls who break their hands before such a thunder, before the illusion of that false nude that the queen of the night gives away, before a success.
This is how we discovered ** Rêver Club ,** an old concert venue that went down in history to give life to this new space that promises to give a twist to the fantasy of the cabaret.
And we have moved to the heart of Chamberí, very close to the effervescent Plaza de Olavide where the city seems to never sleep. because first of all Rêver is a club for night owls , for brown cats, redirecting our retina to Paris at the beginning of the 20th century when the Moulin Rouge emerged between a can can and clouds of tobacco smoke.

Gregory Veguillas, one of those responsible for Rêver seeing the light, he always wanted to have a club despite not having gathered more experience to his credit than having worked as a young man on some terraces of the Castellana.
Gregorio wanted to do something special, especially on a musical level, in the style of Stella and Morocco because despite the fact that he is aware that there are already thousands of clubs in Madrid where you can dance to current music with a few drinks, his mission revolved around recover other musical trends where the accent was placed directly on the quality of the artist s, about hits from other times that marked a before and after.
“ We loved the idea of a cabaret . We were very inspired by the idea of the French cabarets of the last century where artists of all kinds performed. In a bar in Brussels we saw drag queens performing traditional songs and it gave us the idea”, says Veguillas.

And it was said and done because that dream has materialized in a small club where they have been able to demonstrate that not everything is invented in Madrid and that there can be a concept of different, elegant and sophisticated cabaret.
He adds that we are in a place where he is welcome all kinds of public lover of good music and who wants to enjoy a show while have a drink in an intimate place with a very special aesthetic . “And who also wants to dance, as I have already said; the goal is to rescue past music ”, he explains.
But Rêver is a club that has a few more surprises up its sleeve that materialize in the form of rather more than interesting proposals.
