There are days when the city doesn't seem to fit a pin and others when it appears before you completely empty. At least that's the thing with London when is the creative director Ignatius Pereira the one who photographs her and leaves her without people in her 'Empty London' series of images.

Ignatius Pereira He has a good eye and a lot of patience. Good eye for choosing frames and a lot of patience to think about them, search for them, photograph them and retouch them.

This publicist surprised us in spring with the series of photographs Madrid without people . He now fulfills the promising 'threat' that he announced on his death day. extend his work to other European cities and he delights us with the images that make up Empty London .

In total, 15 images of the empty British capital, without people, of which for now five photographs will see the light.

“Cloudy days, soft shadows” . This is what Pereira likes when it comes to photography. That's why he chose London to continue his series. For this reason and “because it is a city that is in movement, it is very attractive and it has a very special light. Also because of the knowledge I have of the city, which allowed me to already have some plans”, he explains to Traveler.es. In addition, "I had to start somewhere."

The images that make up Empty London have emptied of people such emblematic places as Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, the British Museum, the Millennium Bridge or Liverpool Street.

Her favourite? The one in Trafalgar Square . “We can say that I have practically traveled to take that photo because London does not have great avenues, great vanishing points. It's pretty tight."

“There is a very important initial work of investigate the different planes in social networks” says Pereira.

“I have been there for a week doing two locations a day because the bad thing about London is that at 3:30 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. you have lost power”.

The creation process does not end there. “I have also been a couple of weeks working on editing the images of the series and I still have a couple of weeks left with all the material I have.

Like I did in the series Madrid without people , Pereira has made 10 or 15 minute photography sessions in each place to give time for everything that appears in the image to change places.

In this way, when editing he can choose the empty sites of each snapshot. Combining about 20, he 'only' has to throw himself into repainting certain elements because he already manages to leave the image without people.

What if we could cross it alone?

Well without people, without people... In this series he returns to appear the character that already worried us in Madrid. That person who walks alone in the immensity of a city that, empty, seems even more imposing.

“In this series I like bring the character a little closer, that his story comes to the forefront rather than to the background. In Madrid it was more anecdotal, in these it gives them meaning and he explains the picture a bit” , reflects the author.

The images, of limited edition, can be seen from this Monday in the study that Ignacio Pereira has at number 35 Monteléon Street , in Madrid.
