It was the year 1919 when the Handley Page Transport company served food on an airplane for the first time, on a journey from London to Paris.
One hundred years and many novelties later , the menus on board continue to be objects of love and hate in equal parts.
Despite all prejudice and skepticism, Santan and T&CO, AirAsia's airline food brand, has just launched his first airplane food restaurant and his first coffee shop in Kuala Lumpur.

A HIGH-FLYING MENU AT GROUND LEVEL
**Both the restaurant (Santan) and the cafeteria (T&CO) ** are designed to enhance the dining experience of customers through a personalized digital journey.
They both have a smart menu equipped with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning , which can recommend popular dishes based on time, past ordering patterns, and demographic taste.
Additionally, customers can order directly from Santan's website santan.com.my, as well as from the T&CO mobile app.

Chicken Skewers with Peanut Sauce
The list of dishes on the ground is much longer than most flights for the simple reason that the restaurant does not have the space limitations that exist on an airplane.
For just 12 ringgits (2.60 euros), lovers of Asian cuisine can enjoy traditional dishes such as Pak Nasser's Nasi Lemak, satay skewers, beef and Uncle Chin's Chicken Rice.
Likewise, the gastronomic offer includes recipes inspired by popular ASEAN cuisines (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) such as Pineapple Fish Noodle of Cambodia and the Inasal chicken accompanied by garlic rice From philippines.
To complete the menu, ASEAN coffee and tea , snacks and desserts inspired by local flavors: don't miss the Chioa wrap and the Onde-Onde cake.
A team of five chefs and a group of cooking students were in charge of designing the menu, which includes options from the countries that the airline connects.

“The opening of this flagship restaurant is the start of something great for the Santan and T&CO brands. The expansion also enters the company's plants, according to Goh: "By the end of 2020, Our goal is to have five owned Santan restaurants and 100 franchisee-operated restaurants and cafes. in the next three to five years with expansions in global markets.”
