Airlines and 5G

"A magician is never late, nor early, he arrives exactly when he intends to." But the planes are not flown by Gandalf, nor do we live in the Shire. So take note of which are the most punctual airlines because time is money!

"League of Punctuality 2018", this is the title of the annual report prepared by the company OAG, which has the largest air data network in the world, on the most punctual airlines and airports in the world. To prepare the ranking, it is based on approximately 57 million flight records made in 2017.

To define punctuality, OAG uses the so-called OTP ( on-time performance ), reflects the flights that depart or arrive within 14 minutes and 59 seconds of their scheduled departure or arrival time, that is, less than 15 minutes late.

WHICH ARE THE MOST PUNCTUAL AIRLINES?

The most punctual airline in 2017 was airBaltic, with an OTP of 90.01%, followed by Hong Kong Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines. The Spanish Vueling Airlines is the seventh most punctual airline in the world, with 85.25%, and the second in Europe.

From the ranking of the 20 most punctual companies in the world, seven are low-cost: Vueling Airlines (Spain), Jetstar Asia, Skymark Airlines (Japan), Aer Lingus (Ireland), Transavia (Netherlands), Azul (Brazil), and Volaris (Mexico).

And what about airports?

Who else who least has spent the night sleeping in their "comfortable seats" -or even on the floor- while cursing the little screen announcing "Flight Delayed". The report divides the airports according to their size and the number of potential travelers.

Among the smaller airports (between 2.5 and 5 million passengers per year), Tenerife North ranks first, with 90.05% of flights on time, followed by Hannover and Stavanger.

In the list of the so-called "mega-airports" (with more than 30 million passengers a year), Madrid occupies the second position, behind Tokyo Haneda, which revalidates its position with respect to last year. Seven of the twenty airports that make up this ranking are in North America (such as Denver or Atlanta) and six in Europe (such as Amsterdam, London Heathrow or Paris Charles de Gaulle).

The busiest routes

The report concludes with a new section: the list of the busiest international and domestic routes. The first is headed by the Hong Kong-Taipei route, followed by Kuala Lumpur-Singapore and Jakarta-Singapore. In the first position of the domestic routes is Jeju-Seoul Gimpo followed by Melbourne-Sydney.
