The Avocado Show, the avocado fever continues in Madrid

It was in the year 2017 when Ron Simpson and Julien Zaal, two young entrepreneurs from Amsterdam, They launched what is considered the great pioneer, the first restaurant to use avocado as the main ingredient in each and every one of its dishes.

After that great opening, two more arrived in Amsterdam, another in Brussels in subsequent years, a recipe book available in English and an online store. And now (FINALLY!) they open their doors as an international franchise in our country, specifically at number 13 Colmenares street, in the heart of the Chueca neighborhood in Madrid.

An opening that was scheduled for last September, but due to the months of uncertainty caused by the coronavirus crisis, it had to be postponed until January 2021. Now there is no turning back, without further delay, The Avocado Show opens .

THE AVOCADO SHOW OR HOW TO BECOME A WORLDWIDE REFERENCE

What is The Avocado Show? In the words of one of the founding partners Ron Simpson: “It is the world's first avocado restaurant franchise and brand serving #PrettyHealthyFood made with love and sustainable avocados” , tells Traveler.es

Ron Simpson and Julien Zaal have been friends for more than ten years with extensive experience in the field of marketing and events; Y In 2016 they created this project, opening their first store in Amsterdam on March 17, 2017.

“We both wanted to open a restaurant with an original concept based on food that we both liked, so we created a unique menu based on our favorite green superfruit”, says Ron Simpson, co-founder of The Avocado Show.

“With the help of our wonderful friends Jaimie van Heije and Colette Dike (from the Food Deco website), we developed amazing original avocado dishes that taste amazing. Once we had the food, interior, content, and equipment together, we were ready to go. Fans from all over the world responded with incredible energy and love for our dishes, so we decided to brand our little restaurant and franchise it internationally,” he continues.

ARRIVAL IN MADRID

After months of uncertainty, they have finally decided to open the doors with the intention of rejoicing our breakfast, brunch, lunch and snacks in the capital (it is very likely that dinner will also be served in the future as soon as the restrictions pass).

The reason for this location ahead of other European capitals is obvious: “Madrid is an incredible city, one of the most inspiring, with great weather, architecture, culture and fantastic people. But the most important, an amazing and passionate love for food and the joy of living. It's an ideal place to take our next step and we couldn't be more excited," says Ron Simpson.

"We are always looking for suitable partners in new countries and the Madrid team fits perfectly with our brand and our DNA, so that's why we chose it”, he continues.

Avocado is always a good idea

“It is quite a challenge to open a restaurant in these times, but we firmly believe in our brand, our food, our partners and our team. We also believe that it is important to offer and serve dishes that are healthy in these difficult times we live in. We definitely have to support the hospitality industry now more than ever”, he concludes.

The place has 200m2 and large windows that provide natural light at all times. Pink, green, black and earth colors are the tones that make up the design and interior design of The Avocado Show.

A large neon in a vertical garden and a lot of music welcome immediately to this place that transmits good vibrations from the first moment in which the diner sets foot in it.

AVOCADO, THE STAR INGREDIENT

His gastronomic proposal revolves around just over 20 dishes in which the avocado is the main protagonist, but not the only one. The secret of your success? The great versatility and diversity that this superfood presents within the culinary offer.

“You can eat it hot or cold, whole or crushed, sweet or salty. In any form, in almost any dish, therein lies the magic of our menu”, says Ron Simpson.

This is how it is distributed between first and companions, eggs benedict, pancakes, salads, pokés, hamburgers and desserts in a sweet format.

Avo Garden: avocado, humus, spices, green shoots and flowers

Most are great stars of the house and are found in all the franchises such as the Avo Garden (avocado, hummus, spices, green shoots and flowers served with pita bread), Avo Fries (avocado wedges breaded in a crispy pando, served with truffled mayonnaise), sweety fries (sweet potato chips served with truffled mayonnaise), Mango Tango toast (curry and mango hummus with an avocado rose and sesame seeds) or Mama Mango Poké (avocado, mango, edamame, chopped cucumber, wakame, sesame seeds, sushi rice and soy sauce with mango mayonnaise or wasabi)…the vegan favorite!

Their hamburgers deserve a special mention, where the bread is replaced by succulent pieces of avocado… you will not have seen anything like it! There are two options between which we can choose: Bun Burger with avocado, beef, lettuce, tomato, red onion and grill sauce, served with nachos and the Fun Burger with avocado, vegetable burger, lettuce, tomato, red onion, American mustard and relish sauce, accompanied by nachos. Both concepts are based on Colette Dike's creations under the Food Deco project.

And as a finishing touch, why not close with a vegan avocado and peanut butter ice cream, served in black cone or a chocolate covered sugar waffle, accompanied with avocado, raspberries, blueberries and caramel crumble and cookies? The sweetest bite of all!

2021 is full of plans for The Avocado Show: “In addition to this latest opening, we have found excellent partners in London and Paris and are looking for new ones in Copenhagen and Berlin. In the medium term, our plan is to open 18 stores where we can offer this delicious and colorful project to all the people who want to meet us”, predicts Ron Simpson.

Now it's time to give yourself a good tribute in Madrid with the superfood that does not go out of style as soon as we have the opportunity. After all… who can resist a good avocado?
